Area Director

The Area Director oversees milk + honey spa and salon locations across the US, leads expansion into new markets, drives business strategy, and owns the overall operations of their area This individual will cultivate the milk + honey brand and culture, and will work cross functionally with all INC departments in order to support the spa and salon locations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Location Management and Leadership

  • Demonstrates exemplary leadership, creates a clear vision and models milk + honey principles and values
  • Leads Regional and General Managers across 5-10 locations in multiple cities
  • Oversees the development, refinement and execution of operational initiatives that support company goals
  • Leads and promotes a customer centric culture of results-oriented performance in locations and through INC cross- functional relationships
  • Responsible for driving and maximizing revenue and profitability through efficiency and resource optimization for continuous operational improvement
  • Elevates operational excellence. Oversees the development of policy, procedure and practices that maximize profitability
  • Determines strategic objectives for the area and sets priorities accordingly
  • Cultivates a growth mindset among milk + honey employees, encouraging creative ideas to generate income and enhance employee satisfaction
  • Actively participates in recruiting, hiring, and training leaders for location leadership
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Regional and General Managers to establish and execute on operational goals
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for Regional and General Managers

Partisan Recruiting and Development

  • Collaborates with HR and Marketing to ensure that milk + honey has a strong recruiting and onboarding process
  • Is responsible for ensuring that there is a well developed succession plan and talent pipeline for leadership at each spa and salon location
  • Collaborates with the corporate office staff (Finance, Marketing, HR, Executive) on financial and budgeting issues of compensation and benefits.

Emerging Locations

  • Creates standardized processes for expansion into new markets
  • Collaborate with all INC departments to achieve emerging location milestones
  • Lead and develop Operations Manager

Operations and Finances

  • Establishes, monitors, and analyzes key operational performance metrics to drive performance, focus, and improvement
  • Holds location managers accountable for revenue projections and budgets
  • Identifies and corrects operational inefficiencies to improve customer experience and reduce unnecessary expenses

Brand Standards

  • Upholds and cultivates brand standards by monitoring location adherence to brand standards.
  • Internal audits:
    • Identifies inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement by reviewing policies, procedures, operating systems, and technology
    • Creates and upholds facility standards for each location
  • External audits
    • Addresses and prevents recurrence of service defects
  • Evaluates and improves customer service cycle and programs
  • Resolves escalated client complaints
  • Other assignments may be added as needed or required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 10+ years of management experience in the spa, salon, or hospitality industry
  • 5+ year of multiple unit management with a minimum P&L responsibility of $50M preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing standardized business processes
  • Strong analytical skills with an understanding of key financial and operational metrics. Ability to use metrics to drive results.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, MBA preferred
  • Significant experience in recruiting, hiring and managing diverse workforce
  • Strong and compelling leader, able to motivate and inspire 350+ employees
  • Exemplary verbal and written communications skills
  • Self-driven, conscientious individual who is detailed and organized; who also possess strong analytical skills
  • Exceptional collaborator who is open to learning the milk + honey culture and building strong relationships across leadership team and spa managers

Special Considerations:

  • Ability to work in excess of 8 hours per day as business demands fluctuate
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel as necessary to inspect all facets of product in the development or build phases
  • Ability to effectively/clearly communicate
  • The employee will occasionally lift and or carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Employee may be required to travel for business purposes.
