Chief Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Officer

Reporting to the chief human resources officer, the vice president and chief diversity, inclusion and belonging officer will design and implement a holistic diversity, inclusion and belonging strategy to cultivate an enduring company with individuals of diverse backgrounds at all levels, where all of our employees are included and grow and succeed.

You will oversee essential practices and programs related to diversity, inclusion and belonging (DI&B), bringing thought leadership, a compelling vision for success and continuing best practices in the DI&B space. You will lead and amplify LS&Co.’s work around all aspects of diversity and inclusion, partnering with key stakeholders including: Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, Corporate Affairs and Communications, and external community partners.

About the Job

  • Serve as a thought leader in the organization on all aspects of diversity, inclusion and belonging (DI&B), bringing innovative, leading edge ideas and best practices to LS&Co.
  • Design and implement a holistic, global, enterprisewide DI&B strategy applying macro-trends, research, analysis and benchmarks.
  • Translate the broader DI&B strategy into progressive practices and programs that reflect the best expertise in this space, from increasing representation to ensuring LS&Co. has an inclusive culture that truly reflects its values of empathy, originality, integrity and courage.
  • Partner with key leaders across both HR and the organization more broadly to drive accountability and transparency around targeted improvements in diverse representation, particularly at the corporate and leadership levels.
  • Influence and partner with key leaders to ensure that LS&Co.’s culture promotes inclusivity and belonging broadly, while also maintaining a sense of local identity in various office locations.
  • Work with key leaders and partners to design and implement DI&B goals and initiatives focused on all areas of the employee experience, including recruiting, retention, succession and leadership development.
  • Work with key leaders and partners to improve diversity and inclusion in other key areas of the business, including consumer marketing, corporate affairs and communications (including external advocacy and influence work), the Levi Strauss Foundation and company giving, supply chain/supplier diversity, etc. This includes:
    • Talent Management/Learning and Development on internal course offerings ranging from anti-racism training to leadership development for key under-represented groups. Work in close partnership on development and succession opportunities for diverse employees.
    • Talent acquisition to pipeline and attract talent through events, conferences and partnerships with professional organizations, educational institutions, local community groups and nonprofit organizations.
    • HR operations, technology and analytics in analysis of key metrics and EEO and affirmative action compliance requirements.
    • Employee experience on critical junctures of the employee journey ensuring inclusion, development and retention of under-represented talent.
    • Communications to ensure that inclusion is considered and integrated into all aspects of our internal and external communications.
    • Corporate affairs for external advocacy and giving initiatives as well as media opportunities.
    • Other key constituents to ensure we deliver on our holistic DI&B strategy (e.g., supplier diversity, consumer marketing, etc.).
  • Establish key metrics to assess and measure results of DI&B initiatives as well as progress against key commitments and the broader DI&B strategy.
  • Oversee Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), providing guidance and direction as well as ensuring these groups have the appropriate resources and level of influence within the organization.
  • Lead a team of DI&B practitioners, providing leadership and mentorship to grow the capabilities of this team and establish LS&Co. as a destination for strong D&I talent.
  • Represent LS&Co. at internal and external events, fostering strategic partnerships.
  • Through this critical work, position LS&Co. as a top destination for diverse talent through an inclusive employer brand.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ten years to 15 years of experience in HR, marketing, product, diversity and inclusion, or other related fields; at least five years focused on diversity and inclusion
  • You're comfortable facilitating and presenting to all of our audiences
  • You bring experience leading companywide initiatives with multiple stakeholders
  • You have experience managing a team
  • You have the legal right to work in the U.S.
