Position Summary

The Director, Footwear Development Team Sports will partner with the Sr Director Footwear Development to drive operational and product excellence through Under Amour's Footwear supply chain. The Director will lead the existing product development team to ensure that Under Armour continues to deliver world class on field and on court products.  The Director will work cross functionally with HQ & Sourcing team mates, and factory partners to support the vision and strategy for UA Footwear Team Sports Development. This role must be able to communicate effectively with leadership, internal/ external partners and be able to drive action within their own team and supporting departments where necessary. The key responsibilities and initiatives for this role are: Category Fit & Comfort, Team Sports best practices, category development workloads, assist in factory development allocation, delivering high quality performance product that is on-time, at category margin targets, increasing operating efficiency, working with Innovation on product service level agreements, all in a fast-paced environment. This role should be able to challenge functions and processes to drive the most optimal results for Under Armour Team Sports Product through strong leadership skills. They must be willing to work across regions and be available in various time zones as needed to drive business alignment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

⦁    Drives product creation execution strategy by interacting with merchandising, manufacturing, design and sourcing to define and coordinate the product requirements required interaction.
⦁    Leads the seasonal product calendar, executing against required delivery dates for line reviews, salesman samples, pricing targets and production confirmation.  Refines and sharpens the creation process as needed
⦁    Develops product requirements and communicates the product vision to manufacturing partners for ongoing releases and new product opportunities
⦁    Initiates and creates key brand product process improvements.  Establishes new processes for management of product requirements throughout product lifecycle
⦁    Collaborates with the US VR team and Asia VR team to build necessary and relevant VR CAD’s for specific product phase reviews and presentation needs.
⦁    Analyzes the competitive landscape and evolving technologies to develop a strong product roadmap
⦁    Manages and monitors product demand and tooling requirements. Works closely with category merchandising and forecasting to maintain calendar adherence, financial targets and commercialization lead times
⦁    Translates customer needs and technology directions into product definitions
⦁    Responsible for educating the product creation team on new product technology or function
⦁    Manages the complete product life cycle.  Provides direction and coordination within the footwear group for the delivery of current and future product releases.
⦁    Drive Development and Design involvement through the Lighthouse to maximize product creation potential and process improvement opportunities.
⦁    Writes clearly understood documents targeted at various audiences (R&D, engineering, customers, analysts, management) as well as making presentations to large/small groups
⦁    Supports the sales team with both pre and post-sales product opportunities
⦁    Contributes to the design process to provide costing or technical solutions to creative ideas
⦁    Travel to Asia, retail, and industry tradeshows and management seminars
⦁    Leads and mentors the development team providing strong judgment and direction when making feature/functionality/schedule trade-offs

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

⦁    Ability to manage multiple projects within overlapping seasons, and with a variety of time horizons.
⦁    Willingness to travel internationally
⦁    Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
⦁    Knowledge of footwear constructions, stitching, and assembly, material construction and properties, costing, pattern making, mold engineering and bottom materials, lasts, embroidery, screen printing, welding and other footwear manufacturing

Education And / Or Experience

⦁    Bachelor’s degree (in Footwear/Textile Design, Technology, Merchandising, Engineering, Industrial/ Mechanical/or Chemical Engineering or a related field preferred)
⦁    12+ years of experience required
⦁    Management experience required
