Director of Merchandising (Apparel)

We are looking for a Director of Merchandising to lead American Giant’s production function, leading our design, product and planning functions to drive our revenues growth.  This is a key role in developing, planning and communicating our merchandising strategies to meet or exceed our financial targets while also pleasing our customers.   This is a key cross-functional leader in our organization who will partner with marketing, revenues and supply chain to hit our sales, margin and inventory goals.   In this position you will be accountable for our overall merchandising strategy ensuring that we develop a strong cadence of product stories through both newness and continued enhancements in our current product offerings.  You will be very data-driven in your approach to design and merchandising-leveraging sales data, competitive trends and  customer insight to drive our merchandising strategy.


The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead product and pricing strategies to support the development of our merchandising assortment.
  • Provide guidance to design and production for product development across the line planning process.
  • Ensure that merchandising strategies and plans will meet the revenue and margin goals of the company.
  • Analyze sales data, competition, market trends and customers to develop merchandising tactics for categories, product, pricing and innovation.
  • Partner with marketing and creative in the development of our go-to-market calendar.
  • Lead product are of the company, overseeing both design and planning with potential development path to Sr. Leadership team.


  • 7-10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Must have experience in apparel, preferably in a vertically integrated business.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college or university
  • High level of initiative, able to work independently on multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively operate with high energy and flexibility in a constantly evolving team environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Excel expert, previous experience with looker a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
