Manager, Personalization Capabilities

With a focus on evolving Kohl’s to be world class in Customer engagement, the Manager, Personalization Capabilities will help drive the strategy and project manage the cross-functional personalization teams focused on driving customer engagement, ensuring the team meets expected results and is driving progress towards defined business objectives. This role will manage the creation and implementation of 1:1 personalization technical capabilities with as much automation as possible, leveraging customer, product and behavioral data to drive revenue growth. They will also be the project lead for behavioral trigger based programs and capabilities.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

SQUAD PROGRESS AND DRIVE OUTCOMES

  • Partner with Capabilities Lead in the development of the strategy and roadmap for personalization initiative testing and ensure it aligns to the broader vision
  • Develop test programs and pilots to improve the effectiveness of growth personalization tactics
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop testing strategies and tactics
  • Help generate hypotheses and partner to define analytical/testing opportunities to provide new insights to further advance the targeted personalization strategies and capabilities
  • Serve as an agile steward and coach, ensuring a data-driven mindset and encourages team to generate bold and innovative solutions
  • Use customer insights, industry examples and leadership input in creating new test hypotheses
  • Helps run ideation as necessary to fill test backlog

1:1 PERSONALIZATION CAPABILITIES: PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS, PERSONALIZATION OFFERS, BEHAVIORAL TRIGGER BASED PROGRAMS

  • Drive the development and implementation of behavioral trigger based program capabilities
  • Project manage the development of product recommendations and personalization behavioral trigger based program technical capabilities and testing agendas
  • Stay current on top and emerging technology capabilities and trends as it relates to behavior triggers
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and proficiency in marketing technology solutions (home grown and third party), algorithms, machine learning, automated workflows, and various CRM solutions
  • Partner with Capabilities lead to develop and execute strategy for development teams to deliver best-in-class personalization technology capabilities through optimal mix of in-house and third party solutions, leveraging data across multiple ingestion points, algorithms and delivery/activation capabilities
  • Manager and execute business/foundational/platform based features/initiatives spanning across applications and environments, involving multiple iterations
  • Leverage analytics and data science teams for actionable insights, algorithms and test design
  • Drive successful execution of product recommendations, offers and trigger related testing
  • Partner in the creation of new technical personalization capabilities and features to be developed and tested through iterative frameworks
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify, develop, and test new personalization tactics/capabilities that drive total enterprise traffic and improve customer value perception

  • Embrace a data-driven, agile mindset and encourages the broader team to generate bold and innovative solutions
  • Serves as a mentor to the broader team with capability expertise and testing best practices
  • Ensure daily follow up with squad team members on deliverables and holds team accountable for timely and accurate completion
  • Inform leadership and key stakeholders of performance on regular basis
  • Collects learnings from test program and shares across teams and the organization
  • Communicate challenges and opportunities in a proactive manner to key partners

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in electronic or software engineering, computer science, MIS, or a related field
  • 5+ years experience in technology, marketing, business brand or customer engagement strategy
  • Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Proven people leadership experience
  • Experience building strategic roadmaps and leveraging strategic insights to prioritize ideas
  • Strong communication, influencing and partnering skills
  • Ability to translate insights into actionable plans

PREFERRED

  • Degree or equivalent experience in MIS, engineering, business or a related field, particularly in the marketing technology space
  • Prior agency, consulting experience
  • Understanding of Kohl’s Technology capabilities
  • Experience using marketing and data technology software/systems Adobe full stack, Salesforce, SAS, Big Query, Urban Airship, third party vendors
  • Experience with Cloud Technologies, preferably Google Cloud but exposure to AWS, Aure, IBM, Oracle also acceptable
  • Experience with KPIs implementation and definition, what & how to measure and monitor
  • Experience in defining and leading the development of features in an agile methodology
  • Experience in using development tools like Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Experience with CMS (content management systems), DAM (digital asset management systems), e-commerce platforms, CRM platforms, personalization engines
