Senior Manager, Marketing Capabilities Strategy and Enablement

With a focus on evolving Kohl’s to be world class in Customer Engagement and Personalization, the Senior Manager, Marketing Capabilities Strategy and Enablement will partner with KT to drive the marketing technology strategy and roadmap from ideation to implementation. The Senior Manager will be instrumental in driving the capabilities needed to achieve our personalization-at-scale and best in class marketing vision, collaborating both with the business and with KT, and seeking out the latest solutions that complement and improve the ecosystem. This role leads the strategy and successful planning, execution and management of multiple marketing technology and operational initiatives, including; cross-team marketing alignment, program management, business process design, and definition of business and technology capabilities leveraging knowledge of latest trends to deliver a best in class personalized marketing experience.



  • Partners with KT and leadership to define and execute against the marketing technology strategy and roadmap from ideation to implementation, inclusive but not limited to the following capabilities: content management, customer data, marketing analytics, CRM capabilities, offer management, marketing data management, identity, credit technology, and digital technologies
  • Utilizes strategic thinking to align Marketing business goals to the technology roadmap, recommend innovative solutions through new and existing capabilities to drive the business forward, both internally built solutions and those provided by third parties
  • Provides strong thought leadership and guidance to influence leaders and drive cross-functional alignment and adoption of new technology, processes and standards
  • Leads cross-functional team communication and discussions and leads change management and solution oriented discussions


  • Translates and activates future marketing vision into scalable and agile processes and technology
  • Assesses solutions with short-term and long-term business objectives and confirms impact on other projects and processes across marketing
  • Manages prioritization of the Marketing technology and capabilities needs, getting feedback from stakeholders, and continuously reassessing impact in an effort to drive the most value
  • Drives requirements and prioritization across multiple marketing teams and cross functional work streams to deliver successful business outcomes
  • Reports program status and critical issues affecting execution. Utilizes proactive communication to mitigate risk


  • Oversees and assesses the performance of delivered personalization initiatives and scaled solutions
  • Oversees the prioritization of marketing technology initiatives, focusing on highest value projects that drive forward best in class marketing capabilities
  • Manages the flow of communication and escalation, including status, issues and results
  • Influences and informs leadership on current and future performance


  • Manages relationships with key digital operations, planning and allocation, promotions, Rewards strategy, Credit operations, media and operations teams, vendors and other stakeholders involved in the marketing technology solutions and personalization/media operations
  • Develops and grows business relationships vital to the success of the organization
  • Partners with business leaders and subject matter experts to develop MarTech roadmap, process efficiencies, and acts as change agent in the organization


  • Manages direct reports, systems and projects to achieve marketing goals
  • Creates an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance and maintaining open communications.
  • Develops staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments and establishing performance and development plans.



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6+ years’ experience in marketing, program management, marketing technology, or related fields
  • Understanding of data and analytics with the ability to design technology solutions that provide actionable insights and campaigns
  • Self starter with the ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work for self and team
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytic skills
  • Ability to translate insights into actionable plans
  • Strong communication, influencing and partnering skills
  • Innovative thinker with ability to synthesize data and blend with intuition and experience
  • Ability to thrive in a highly quantitative, fast-paced environment with changing business needs


  • Experience managing marketing technology initiatives
  • Experience with cross-functional program management
