As the top HR executive, you play a critical role directing and overseeing human capital management strategy, vision, planning and execution. How can you contribute to what we do?

  • The top HR executive works to develop and implement Tanger’s strategic initiatives. Your understanding of business strategy helps you translate those goals into HR priorities and initiatives and helps you assess and diagnose organizational needs relative to business performance gaps, talent, workforce planning, and change management strategies.
  • You provide strategic thinking to the leadership team on the hiring process, organizational effectiveness, performance and change management, and talent development.
  • By engaging with the Leadership Team, you support the organization’s mission, vision, values, goals, and key metrics by developing short-and long-range HR plans, strategies, and policies.
  • In collaboration with top leaders, you create a strategic Human Capital Plan that aligns with Tanger Outlet’s vision and culture.
  • A structured compensation plan will be created and updated by you. This plan will attract, motivate, and retain talented employees based on your assessment of current market conditions.
  • You develop/update Tanger succession plans for key positions across the organization.
  • You will ensure immediate and long-term compensation plans are aligned with the strategic plan of Tanger.
  • In collaboration with top leaders you create and sustain a culture of innovation, engagement and empowerment for employees and managers and ensure consistency of culture with adherence to Tanger’s mission, vision, and values.
  • In partnership with our outside consultants, CEO, CFO, and General Counsel you evaluate current trends in executive compensation strategies and equity grants to make recommendations to the Compensation Committee.
  • Setting the tone for strategic growth in recruitment and building a positive employer brand, you provide thought leadership and guidance.
  • In partnership with Tanger’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, you lead efforts to ensure alignment with DE&I initiatives within sourcing and recruiting processes and policies.  You work to foster a diverse workplace and an environment of belonging and inclusion that enables all employees to contribute to their full potential.
  • You ensure Tanger’s award-winning internship program’s strategy remains relevant attracting the best collegiate talent to build and strengthen the talent pipeline.
  • Monitoring key people analytics, you identify trends and opportunities for creating efficiencies and cost savings around related disciplines.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of trends and new developments in employee benefits, you evaluate and recommend changes to ensure Tanger maintains competitive.
  • You oversee the creation and implementation of comprehensive and competitive compensation plans for a non-officer workforce through analysis of benchmarking and survey data, compensation structures and systems, incentive plans, salary budgets, and internal people analytics.
  • Using your experience in policy ideation, development, and implementation of key HR strategies and procedure, you ensure human resource policies and employee handbook are current and in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local employment laws.
  • You ensure an effective approach to employee relations including staff communication, employee engagement, conflict resolution, and provide counsel in employee relations issues partnering with legal counsel as warranted.
  • Collaborating with the executive and senior management teams, you lead all aspects of succession planning, supporting Tanger’s intermediate and long-term strategic plans for retention and employee development.
  • Fostering a culture that promotes teamwork, excellence in execution, innovation, and change management, you leverage the skills and talents of the HR team to provide best-in-class service and partnerships. You oversee the daily activities and operations of the HR department providing guidance, direction, and leadership.
  • Supporting and advancing the Tanger culture, you proactively oversee the delivery of effective, high quality, employee communications designed to educate, inform, and applaud achievements.  You continually explore new ideas and opportunities to improve communication and elevate employee engagement.
  • With a strong commitment to the values and Tanger’s culture, you create and execute a variety of regular employee engagement events, such as: financial wellness educational sessions; mental, emotional and physical wellness related lunch-and-learn opportunities; employee appreciation events; Wellness Week; etc.

  • You are a visionary possessing the ability to set strategy, take risks, and solve complex problems, neutralize conflicts, and make decisions to execute and drive business results.
  • Using your strong analytic capability and planning skills, you employ evidence-based decision making and support key decisions with data.
  • You naturally use independent judgment, critical thinking, and prioritization to understand changing business needs reasoning your way through novel problems.
  • A self-starter, you initiate, plan, execute, control and close projects with a detail-oriented approach meeting key deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • You are proficient in major business software programs and able to quickly learn new systems.
  • You can travel via commercial airlines and maintain a valid driver's license to operate your own vehicle or rental car in a safe manner.
  • Required qualifications include: a bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline; 10+ years of exempt level human resources experience; minimum of 5 years in a publicly held company with multi-state locations; MBA degree or senior level professional designation through HRCI or SHRM; 5+ years of experience driving executive and general compensation; 5+years of experience in organizational design & structure, workforce planning, and change management.

Who will you work with?

  • Your role includes working with Tanger Board of Directors, CEO, General Counsel, CFO, Executive Leadership team and regional/local field teams. You will collaborate with your local HR team as well as corporate office staff located at our headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina.
