The goal of the vice president, corporate planning position is to set up all relevant processes and drive the business (i.e., revenue, EBIT) through strategic merchandise planning, controlled inventory management, actionable reporting, and insightful commercial analysis. We achieve this by creating a world-class, digitally enabled, integrated end-to-end planning team, which is commercial, connects well cross-functionally, and delivers efficient merchandise processes.

We're looking for a leader who has led a corporate planning function that provides a global view of the business, as well as multiple levels of detail and granularity. The goal is to provide management with more accurate reporting and accountability to business goals and results.

Key to success in this role is the ability to be highly collaborative and build strong working relationships with cross-functional partners in finance, IT, merchandising, sales, distribution and supply chain.

The vice president, corporate planning position will provide strategic thought and leadership to improve processes and efficiencies for this function, with the goal of refining and orchestrating a transparent end-to-end process.

A manager who leads by example, builds strong teams, and has managed this function through significant change would be best suited for this role. Cultural fit is also very important. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key leader of planning function to drive and deliver sustainable, profitable growth for the company.
  • Drive financial results that maximize revenue, gross margin, inventory turn goals and minimize excess inventory.
  • Actively lead and engage in business analysis and hindsight, as well as participate in the development of strategies and tactics that will maximize opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Present analysis and recommendations in key cross-functional meetings.
  • Refine and embed a corporate planning calendar that's aligned with finance, business units and market cycles.
  • Collaborate extensively with corporate partners to define and execute business strategies; define and drive business process changes and overall change management.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure proper support, coordination and problem resolution of merchandise issues.
  • Act as conduit for best practices, providing the support needed to maximize top-line sales and bottom-line profit via effective inventory management across all business units.
  • Standardized analysis and reporting of business units to provide consolidated and consistent view of corporate and company performance.
  • Collaborate with finance to reconcile planning forecasts to financial forecast by channel and develop strategies to amplify and/or address opportunities.
  • Lead systems road map and execution to support business vision and evolution in partnership with IT and business cross-functions.

Qualifications

  • Ten years to 15 years prior experience in retail planning and allocation
  • Vertical retail experience
  • Strong leadership skills, executive presence and acumen
  • Strong analytical skills paired with strategic business acumen and application
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, highly motivated, and entrepreneurial. Ability to act as both a “player” and a “coach.”
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence peers, members of a cross-functional team, and senior management.
  • Ability to formally present business strategies and action plans.
