This position is eligible for remote work. Vice President of Softlines

Reports to: Chief Merchandising Officer

Job Description:

At Overstock, we want to deliver the best value in the market for online home goods, with a vast assortment of quality goods and excellent delivery experience.

As the Vice President of Softlines, this role is designed to lead a team of over twenty merchants and operations specialists as we grow our assortment, refine our pricing strategies, and find new ways to share the quality of our goods with our customers. The VP of Softlines will be responsible for building relationships with our biggest partners, setting strategy for the team that leads to company growth and their teams’ job satisfaction.

To be successful in this role, you must get energy from solving problems, working through ambiguity, setting a vision while also rolling up your sleeves, and working with your cross-functional peers to ensure your strategy comes to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead full end-to-end strategy and execution for a large portfolio of categories
  • Own softlines’ financial results, ensuring top and bottom-line growth
  • Drive product assortment decisions, leveraging market and historical data trends and other inputs to identify assortment gaps and build our sku breadth
  • Grow and expand supplier partnerships to ensure financial success of your categories
  • Execute on new areas of growth, including line extensions and category expansion
  • Influence cross-functional teams to deploy tactics to drive growth in your categories, including site merchandising, marketing, and pricing & profitability
  • Oversee a team of 20+ merchants and operations specialists, with 4-5 direct reports

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience, including at least 5 in a merchandising role in home and/or fashion
  • Strong background in data driven decision making, coupled with having an appreciation for consumer experience and operational efficiencies
  • Demonstrated results executing strategies from opportunity identification to stakeholder alignment and impact
  • Ability to inspire an internal team through challenges and uncertainty and instill confidence with external partners
  • Experience communicating, collaborating, and delivering business results
  • Held positions of commensurate scope, responsibility, complexity, and accountability
  • Energetic, solution-oriented leader who enjoys working through ambiguity in a fast-paced retail environment

 

This position is open to remote work, with travel to headquarters monthly.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires you to sit, stand and perform general office functions. You may also be required to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
