During a keynote presentation at the 2021 Women in Retail Leadership Summit in Miami, Ellen Latham, creator and co-founder of Orangetheory Fitness, discussed how she started the business out of her home and grew it to the well-known boutique fitness studio franchise we know today, with more than 1,200 studios in all 50 U.S. states and more than 23 countries.
In this video clip, Latham describes the time she was fired from her first job, and how the experience helped her to find the strength to bounce back from a momentary life challenge.
“You only have one of two options that you can grab onto,” Latham said to the audience. “You can either climb under the covers with your favorite ice cream for a month, or you can decide to push through it.”
