Marianne Thompson, a Women in Retail Leadership Circle (WIRLC) member, was named chief commercial officer of Canada-based Home Hardware Stores Limited on Sept. 7. Thompson was promoted from her previous role as chief merchandising officer at the home improvement, construction materials and furniture retailer. She was named to that position in April, and prior to that served as the senior vice president of merchandise.
In this new role, Thompson will be responsible for Home Hardware’s overall commercial strategy with a focus on driving business growth and expanding market share. She will continue to oversee merchandising, with the addition of marketing, supply chain and retail operations. Thompson will continue to report into Kevin Macnab, president and CEO.
“[Thompson] is a transformative leader who brings passion, creativity and heart to everything she does,” Macnab said in a press release announcing Thompson’s promotion. “Since joining Home Hardware in 2019, [Thompson] has been instrumental in the success of our LBM and hardlines merchandise strategies while also reinforcing the value of our people and culture.”
Thompson, who joined Home Hardware in 2019, was named a 2022 Top Women in Retail honoree by WIRLC.
“I’m honored to take on this important role during a time of transformational growth and investment at Home Hardware,” Thompson said. “I’m passionate about the success of this Canadian company and our independent dealer-owners across the country who work tirelessly to provide their customers with the products, services and helpful advice they depend on us for.”
