A career transition can feel like a sudden loss of momentum. Whether it’s the result of a layoff, a paused job search, or a personal pivot, many professionals find themselves asking the same question: What comes next? Yet these moments can also create space for reflection, growth and a renewed sense of direction.

To support members navigating this stage, Women in Retail Leadership Circle will host the next installment of its Women in Retail: Next Chapter Sessions on March 20 from 12:00 p.m. ET to 1:30 p.m. ET. This members-only virtual series is designed to help women approach career transitions with clarity, confidence and community. Each 90-minute gathering blends expert insight with peer discussion in a supportive, judgment-free environment where members can share experiences, exchange ideas, and support one another.

The March 20 session, “Your Next Chapter: A Practical Framework for Navigating Career Transition,” will explore a practical approach to moving forward with intention. Participants will learn how to define their personal version of success, identify meaningful areas for growth, and create clear next steps toward new opportunities. The goal is simple: to help members leave with a forward-looking plan and the confidence to pursue it.

The session will feature leadership coach and experiential facilitator Christina McFadden Arteaga, who will lead the coaching portion of the discussion and guide participants through strategies for navigating transition with purpose. Allison McGuire, a former marketing executive at Paper Mart, will open the session and share insights from her recent WIRLC article, “When Your Title Disappears, But Your Value Doesn’t.”

McGuire’s article reminds us that professional setbacks do not define personal value. “Unemployment is not a reflection of your worth,” she writes. “It is a circumstance, not a verdict.” During her own career transition, McGuire has focused on maintaining confidence by separating identity from employment status, contributing through advising and mentoring, staying visible by sharing insights, and surrounding herself with a supportive professional community.

Career transitions may be challenging, but they can also become defining moments of growth. Through Next Chapter Sessions, Women in Retail Leadership Circle members gain the perspective, tools and community support needed to step confidently into what comes next.
