Women in Retail Leadership Circle (WIRLC) recently released its 16th annual Top Women in Retail report. The valuable resource highlights female executives who impressed our Editorial team as well as colleagues from across the industry. One such woman was Tchernavia Rocker, chief people officer, Revlon. Here’s a sampling of Tchernavia’s interview featured in the report.
Women in Retail Leadership Circle: How are you aligning the HR/people strategy with the broader turnaround business agenda at Revlon, and how is that being measured?
Tchernavia Rocker: Our people strategy fuels transformation by seamlessly aligning our strategic objectives, operating model, leadership, talent, communications, and culture with growth drivers, creating lasting value. Unified HR scorecards deliver real-time insights, enabling bold action and rapid course correction. Oh, and we actually put people at the center of our people strategy.
WIRLC: What leadership behaviors and mindsets do you believe are most critical for HR leaders today in driving business transformation?
TR: We’re committed to leadership behaviors that matter: human-centered design, enterprise-first thinking, courage, intellectual curiosity, and joy. We’re not asking for a seat at the table; we’re standing up and leading change.
WIRLC: What bold leadership move has had the biggest impact on your team in the past year?
TR: Embedding “The Power of AND” — the intersection of edge and empathy, wins and failures, knowing and learning. This cultural shift elevates leadership expectations, accelerates collaboration, and sharpens consumer focus. At Revlon, one of our corporate values is Live Boldly, and we’re doing just that.
