I don’t know about you, but I love award shows. It’s a tradition my best friend and I share. We talk which fashions we love most and our thoughts on the opening number while drinking “coffee” (aka a glass of wine).

Watching the Emmy’s this past Sunday, the routine was the same, however, the vibe was different. There were many memorable moments for women — Lena Waithe’s historic win, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ record-tying eighth Emmy win by a singular performer, and more! One of the moments that stuck with us is when Reese Witherspoon made a plea to bring women to the front of their own stories and make them the “hero of their own stories.”

We could’t agree more! We’re inspired every day by the WIRLC community and their stories. You’ll be able to hear some of the stories we’re inspired by live at the upcoming Girl Talks East and Girl Talks West events! You can find out more about the events here.

Tell us — who are some of the women that inspire you to be the hero of your own story? Let us know and we’ll feature them on our social accounts 🙂
