Ever notice how easy it is to give a compliment to a best friend but not receive one?

“I love your jacket!”
“This old thing? It’s cute but it looked cuter on the mannequin.”

We’ve all been there. In fact, according to a recent survey conducted by Glamour and L’Oréal Paris, only 31 percent of women would describes themselves as beautiful, and more than a third of women who have social media accounts admit that seeing other people’s posts can make them feel bad about their own lives. A third of women!

L’Oreal Paris wants that to change. The cosmetics brand is encouraging women to stop shrugging off praise and embrace the compliments they receive.

At this week’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards, Anne Marie Nelson-Bogle, senior vice president, U.S. marketing, for L’Oréal Paris, said the beauty brand wants to reward the getting and giving of compliments and spread the word with the #TakeACompliment campaign on Twitter.

“We want women to remember to support, embrace and lift up one another while saying ‘yes, I am amazing,'” said Nelson-Bogle.

The result? A slew of women creating a positive space on social and in real life.

So, go ahead, send out a compliment today! (And download the PDF here to spread the word.) Just remember to receive one as well. And if no one has told you lately …

You’re smart.
You’re a badass.
Great hair.

Cheers!
