From Our Community is a regular feature from Women in Retail Leadership Circle (WIRLC) that highlights events, business launches, retail partnerships, charitable initiatives, and more, all sent to us by members of the WIRLC community. If you have an announcement that you would like us to share with the Inner Circle audience, please contact Melissa Campanelli (mcampanelli@napco.com).

Brian Heppner, the brother of Cassie Heppner, a former marketing director at Timberland and a friend of Women in Retail Leadership Circle who was killed at the retailer’s headquarters a year ago on Feb. 9, launched a new campaign in honor of his sister.

Remember Cassie Heppner with #karmaforcassie and make the world a little bit better. (Note: While this campaign was scheduled for yesterday, we thought it deserved a special mention, and perhaps we can carry it on for more than a single day. And if you wish to donate, the GoFundMe is still ongoing.)

From the GoFundMe page, created by Brian Heppner: “A year ago on Feb. 9, not only did we lose a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend — the world lost a force for good. We all miss Cassie so much, and if you’ve been thinking of a way to remember her, on Feb. 9, join us by treating the world to a little bit of goodness on that day. Call it Karma for Cassie.

“Have a friend or family member you’ve been meaning to reach out to? Pick up the phone and say hello. Ordering drive-through at Starbucks? Pay for the car behind you. Shovel a neighbor’s sidewalk. Donate to a food pantry. Go out of your way on Feb. 9 to make someone else’s life a little bit better.

“Like Cassie herself, it’s the little things that can make the biggest impact.

“Use #karmaforcassie so we can share the goodness that has been spread!”
