Women in Retail Leadership Circle (WIRLC) held its first monthly DEI committee meeting of the year earlier this month with a goal of providing a space for members who work in the field of DEI to come together (virtually), be honest and vulnerable with one another, and share the goals and challenges they’re up against every day.
Alongside members from our sister brand, Women Leading Travel & Hospitality, this group of DEI experts truly showed up, sharing the ways they’re successful creating equity and inclusion in the workplace, as well as opening up about the places where they need a little more help.
I love seeing a group of relative strangers come together for an incredibly meaningful purpose and immediately jump into the — at times necessarily uncomfortable — conversation. They shared resources, addressed unconscious biases, celebrated each other’s BIG victories, and taught each other some practical advice to use in the workplace.
