Hello Inner Circle readers!

This week we celebrated Women’s Equality Day, marking the 99th anniversary of the day the 19th Amendment, extending the right to vote to women, was added to the Constitution. It’s a day to celebrate how far we’ve come, but also to recognize how much still needs to change.

One thing we have control over is how we choose to support each other. It’s always great to see women supporting other women, and there are so many ways to go about it, whether it’s creating opportunities for women to use their voices, like our Women in Retail On the Road events, being transparent about our salaries and jobs to help each other get ahead, or just sending a friend a quick text to remind them they’ve been killing it lately!

There are so many ways we can show our support. Here are just a few examples:

  • We can collaborate with one another instead of competing. In today’s Inner Circle, you’ll learn about Amanda Thomas, owner and designer of jewelry brand Luv Aj, and how she and her brand collaborated with social influencer Amanda Steele to create a jewelry line together. Thomas noted that the partnership with Steele has been Luv Aj’s most successful collaboration to date, leading to sold-out collections and six re-orders.
  • We can support each others work. Lately I’ve been making a point to read more books by female authors. I just picked up “City of Girls” by Elizabeth Gilbert, and can’t wait to dive into that this holiday weekend. (By the way, did you know WIRLC has a book club now? Check it out on our Instagram Stories. You’ll be able to find WIRLC Book Club videos in our Instagram Stories each week, and can watch all of the archives in our Book Club story highlight on WIRLC’s profile.)
  • We can help educate a future generation of girls about the powerful women who came before them. On Equality Day, Mattel released two new Barbies honoring activist Rosa Parks and astronaut Sally Ride. Each doll comes with educational material about each woman’s contributions to society.

I’d love to hear how you support other women and what equality means to you! Let me know at achiaradio@napco.com.
