In a session at last month’s Women in Retail Leadership Days virtual event, Mindy Grossman, president and CEO of WW International, was interviewed by Aliza Licht, founder and president of LEAVE YOUR MARK LLC, about her distinguished — yet unconventional — career path. Grossman offered sage insights on a variety of topics, including what it means to be a leader, how to change company culture, and how to develop and have self-awareness, among other things.

In this clip from the session, Grossman addresses how company culture impacts a leader’s ability to transform an organization. Specifically, she cites what she believes to be the four requirements needed for company transformation:

  1. the complete support and alignment of your board;
  2. investment dollars;
  3. a passionate, aligned culture; and
  4. resiliency.

“It [transformation] is never going to be a linear journey,” Grossman said. “If you’re really going to create that kind of change, you have to look at it over a vista of time. And you have to be purposeful to stay focused on what it is you’re trying to accomplish.”
