“It’s OK to be scared.”

These inspirational words were spoken by Rebecca Minkoff, co-founder and chief creative officer of Rebecca Minkoff, during her opening keynote conversation last week during Women in Retail Leadership Days, our month-long virtual celebration of women retail leaders. In fact, Minkoff said that even if you are scared, do the thing that is making you scared — even if you fail.

“Let’s be OK if we have failure,” Minkoff told the virtual audience. “So many people hold themselves back because of that fear, but you can’t be paralyzed by fear.”

This is just a snippet of what Minkoff discussed during her wide-ranging conversation with moderator Jane Hanson, communications coach, CEO and founder of HHH Productions, and former news anchor. Minkoff also discussed how she got her start in the fashion business, how her company was able to pivot during the pandemic, and what her soon-to-be published book, “Fearless: The New Rules for Unlocking Creativity, Courage and Success,” is all about.
