It’s Black History Month, a month dedicated to highlighting the significant contributions, achievements and joy of the Black community. Women in Retail Leadership Circle (WIRLC) plans to celebrate by featuring content that highlights Black female retail leaders and entrepreneurs in our newsletter, on our website, and on social media throughout the month. This week, we’re introducing you to four inspiring Black female entrepreneurs, who also happen be WIRLC members:
- Mildred Mawusi Agbana is the founder and CEO of Kina Africa, a premium health and wellness brand focused on building an organic and sustainable business that contributes to people’s health, and impacts the lives of rural women in Ghana through training, support and the ongoing construction of an ultramodern shea processing center in the Savannah Region of Ghana. Mildred has worked as a registered nurse and a chronic care manager in the U.S. for more than 10 years and is currently pursuing her MBA.
- Jasmin Foster is the founder and CEO of Be Rooted, an inclusively designed stationery and gifting brand created to uplift and celebrate women of color. Be Rooted is the first Black-owned stationery brand to be sold at Target.
- Lorrie King is the co-founder of Caire Beauty, a skincare line that caters to mature skin. Lorrie and her co-founder, Celeste Lee, have collaborated in beauty, personal care and beyond for jewelry and apparel for 15 years on behalf of brands, large and small, and while they never expected to discover a skincare void with a potential value of $5 billion in five years, they did and are thrilled to bring Caire Beauty’s hormone-defining science and age-empowerment message to the masses.
- Ceata Lash is the founder, inventor and co-CEO of PuffCuff, makers of The PuffCuff, the only hair clamp for thick, curly or textured hair made to work with the fullness of your natural hair instead of restricting it. Ceata champions self-love and self-acceptance by providing headache-free, damage-free styling tools for the textured hair community. She’s the first Black woman to hold three U.S. patents for a natural hair styling tool (with a fourth pending).
Check out each of these brands’ websites and products; they are all top notch.
