Little Lady Products' Founder on How Her Children Inspired Her Business
In this episode of Women in Retail Talks, Women in Retail Leadership Circle Senior Content Strategist Ashley Chiaradio interviews Arda Tashdjian, founder of Little Lady Products, a kid-friendly, scented and toxin-free nail polish. Tashdjian discusses her inspiration for starting the brand, the products sold at Little Lady, and how the polish is also great for adults who are looking for safe, nontoxic nail polish. She shares why it’s important that Little Lady’s products are vegan and cruelty-free, how the company pivoted during the COVID-19 pandemic, and her journey to getting 275 stores to carry Little Lady Products, as well as opening four showrooms. Lastly, Tashdjian shares how multiple mentors have helped her throughout her career, the village of support helping her run her business, and how she adapted to having her children home during the health crisis while running the Little Lady Products business from home.
“Mompreneur” Arda Tashdjian is the founder of Little Lady Products, offering nail polishes that are vegan, cruelty-free and kid-approved. Born and raised in California, Tashdjian graduated from California State University Northridge with degrees in Apparel Merchandising and Marketing. She gained valuable experience in the fashion industry interning with brands such as Louis Vuitton before joining a cosmetics manufacturing company full time. Marrying in 2011, Tashdjian soon welcomed a son (April 2014) and daughter (February 2016), embracing the role of stay-at-home mom until founding Little Lady Products in 2018. During her time at home, Tashdjian noticed her daughter’s growing interest in nail polish and jewelry. Inspired by Tashdjian’s own kids, Little Lady Products offers a safer mani-pedi in a spectrum of long-lasting, quick-dry colors and “matching” scents made to spark creativity and play. Each polish is formulated without the seven major toxins that are found in traditional polishes, and topped with a wearable pink or blue bow ring to complete the “minicure.”
