I wanted to start this week’s opening letter by letting you know that the Women in Retail Leadership Summit has been postponed from Aug. 24-26 to Oct. 12-14. The Summit will still take place at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami. We think pushing back the Summit is the best decision for the health, safety, and mental well-being of all attendees, which will always remain our first priority. We can’t wait to see you this October in Miami!
We’re also very excited about a few other initiatives that we’ve been working on. We hope they’ll be helpful to you:
- Yesterday we hosted our very first Women in Retail and Total Retail Virtual Lounge, which featured video interviews with retail CEOs on a variety of topics, including how they’re adapting their businesses in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. Speakers included Rebecca Minkoff, co-founder and creative director, Rebecca Minkoff; Neela Montgomery, CEO, Crate and Barrel; Mike Edwards, president and CEO, Hanna Andersson; and Chris Rowland, president and CEO, Pet Supplies Plus. These industry leaders shared valuable insights on crisis management as well as how they’re preparing their businesses to thrive in a post-COVID environment. If you missed any of our live sessions, we’ll be posting recordings of each of them to the Total Retail website in the next few days. Make sure to check them out! We’ll also be featuring clips from some of the interviews on the Women in Retail Leadership Circle (WIRLC) website as well as right here in the Inner Circle. Look out for them!
- Our next Women in Retail and Total Retail Virtual Lounge is scheduled for Thurs., May 28. Stay tuned for more information about it here and on WIRLC’s social pages.
- Total Retail has created a new report, A Retailer’s Guide to Managing Their Business During a Crisis. The guide features tactics and tips for how you can best manage various functions of your business, from marketing to supply chain to human resources, all of which have been disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. It’s definitely worth checking it out during this challenging time for so many retailers and brands. (And WIRLC members, you can access the guide here without having to fill out the download form.)
- I’ve started a blog on Total Retail’s website called Retail Resources. Updated each Monday, the blog includes the most relevant COVID-19 information and resources I’ve seen over the past week, as well as ideas to help improve your week ahead.
As I’ve said before, we consider it a privilege to be able to provide content to you, and we’ll always be here if you have any questions or feedback.
All my best,
Women in Retail Leadership Circle
