I know I say this every year, but I can’t believe it’s already late May and Memorial Day. The unofficial start of summer is upon us. As the years go by, every year seems to get shorter and shorter. Do you all feel that way?
Regardless, I’m looking forward to the upcoming summer months. Even though I will be busy with work, I still love the “feeling” of summer. Perhaps it harkens back to that that feeling of excitement I always had on the last day of school before the long summer vacation began! What are you most looking forward to this upcoming summer? I’m looking forward to, in no particular order, the following:
- longer, sunnier days;
- going to the beach;
- opening my car windows when driving;
- the sound of the ice cream truck driving by;
- outdoor concerts; and
- spending time outside with the people I love!
I’m also looking forward to the Women in Retail Leadership Circle events that are taking place this summer. The first is our On the Road event, taking place in Dallas on Thurs., June 2. Like our annual Women in Retail Leadership Summit, this invitation-only event will provide executive women in leadership positions at retail companies the chance to hear from engaging and inspirational speakers, learn from each other and make valuable connections, and pick up career development and business strategy advice. There are only a few seats left, so if you’re interested in attending, please register today. (Note, the event is $99 for members and $295 for nonmembers.)
Next, on Thurs., June 16 at 12 p.m. ET, please join us and our sister brand, Women Leading Travel & Hospitality, for a virtual workshop titled, Attracting and Retaining Talent in the New World of Work. The workshop will be led by Denise Kramp, senior partner, retail and consumer at Korn Ferry, and Craig Rowley, senior client partner at Korn Ferry. They will walk attendees through how to attract and retain the best talent. The virtual event will be interactive, offering attendees the opportunity to ask questions of the workshop leaders as well as chat with each other. Attendees will learn the following:
- what the new world of work is and why it’s making attracting and retaining talent so difficult;
- the best strategies and tactics for hiring and retaining executive talent;
- what not to do when trying to attract and retain talent; and
- so much more.
